I come from a long line of packrats, paper hounds and procrastinators (my mother’s side) who saved bits of this and that in case they needed them for future projects or inventions. Extremely resourceful and creative women.
For many years, I struggled with clutter and the frustration of not being able to find things. I made endless to-do lists and designed perfect systems, but then I wouldn’t follow through. Or worse, I would spend hours setting up systems and then never use them.
My Old Solution for Clutter
l used to deal with clutter and unfinished projects by eating a big bowl of ice cream and turning on the television. That’s a quick weight gain formula! Snackers can turn off the TV and lose weight. Hey, sounds like a new fad diet. It worked for me.
Real Progress
Being a fan of beauty and efficiency, I finally determined to change my ways. It took several years, but I successfully left behind my old habits and learned how to live simply and efficiently. I now enjoy the peaceful beauty of open spaces amidst a small pile or two of things. And I can get ready for company in less than 30 minutes most any day of the week. You can learn to do the same thing.
